A little homemade recording of my cover of a composition by the late, great Abbey Lincoln. I used to play this song a lot, and then stopped for some reason. I'm reclaiming it as my theme for the New Year -- especially as I sit surrounded by file boxes filled with I don't know what.
I'm just learning to do percussion, so this was a bit of an experiment.

The ukulele really has the right attitude for playing show tunes from the 1920s, dontcha think? I actually learned to play the uke from a book my father had written by the guy who played uke and banjo in the Paul Whiteman Orchestra. This ditty was written in 1927 by Vincent Youmans (music) and Irving Caesar (lyrics). I consider it an anthem for codependency.
